Livinston's Dreaming of a . . . Green Christmas

Merry Christmas to all!  And Happy New Year in Livingston, NJ!

It's 2010 right around the corner, and that means time to take down the lights, tree decorations and the tree itself.

Livingston is going green this year again and mulching up all discarded live Christmas trees.  Just put your trees out curbside anytime in January Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and the township will pick them up for free.

The Livingston Department of Public works will chip the trees into mulch (I believe by the Livingston circle, behind the Firehouse).  The best part is that the DPW makes all the mulch available to residents for free pick-up, at no cost, while supplies last.

Just call the Livingston DPW at 973-535-7931 for details and to schedule a pick-up.

Green Christmas in Livingston NJ

Did you know your Christmas tree is recyclable?

Yes, Livingston township will take them, and make mulch.

And it's all free!

After a White Christmas, you can have a Green one too!

From January 1 - 31, Christmas trees will be collected, Monday - Friday, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Trees may be left at the curb for pick-up.

By recycling Christmas trees the Township is saving on the cost of garbage disposal as the municipality is charged by weight to remove bulk items. Additionally, through this program, the Township is adding another environmentally friendly initiative.

The DPW will chip the trees into mulch and make it available to residents for pick-up, at no cost, while supplies last. The mulch created from the trees can be used in flower beds and garden borders.

Call the DPW at 973-535-7931 to schedule a pick-up of mulch. Any extra mulch will be used around various township gardens.
