Livingston Hale & Hearty Soup: Out of Business

Another bite the dust.

Hale and Hearty Soup off of the Livingston Circle on Route 10 West wasn't hearty enough.

Everytime we drove by they were either closed or there was no one in the store...

If you recall, it took over the location of the similarly doomed Beyond Bagels store location that took a similar death.

Kind of sad to see restuarant options dwindle around town.

What kind of business would survive in such an awkward location?

It's Hot Outside on the NJ Turnpike

Just another day commuting on the NJ Turnpike where rubbernecking abounds and slows everyone down.  This time, it kind of was understandable why people were slowing down. . .

Happy Zoo Year

Happy Zoo Year at the Turtle Back Zoo.  Believe it or not, the Turtle Back Zoo is open year round.  So if there's a break in this freeeezing weather, and it warms up a bit to give us a preview of spring, you may want to remember that the zoo is a great escape for the kids from our suburban life around town!

Livinston's Dreaming of a . . . Green Christmas

Merry Christmas to all!  And Happy New Year in Livingston, NJ!

It's 2010 right around the corner, and that means time to take down the lights, tree decorations and the tree itself.

Livingston is going green this year again and mulching up all discarded live Christmas trees.  Just put your trees out curbside anytime in January Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and the township will pick them up for free.

The Livingston Department of Public works will chip the trees into mulch (I believe by the Livingston circle, behind the Firehouse).  The best part is that the DPW makes all the mulch available to residents for free pick-up, at no cost, while supplies last.

Just call the Livingston DPW at 973-535-7931 for details and to schedule a pick-up.

It's a Rough Journey To Livingston

If you've been commuting on Route 280, you've undoubtedly noticed the CONSTRUCTION that seems to go on for ages.

Guess what, it's been confirmed that Route 280 from exit 6 to exit 13 will remain in the rough milled condition till summer of 2010!

According to the Star Ledger, they're spending over $23 Million to repair the 18 miles of Rt 280 that carry over 100,000 cars daily.  It's the first repaving project on the highway since 1975 apparently.

You'd think $23 Million would get a quicker time line than 1 year for repairs!
